2018-04-24 JAMES DALTAS & PETER BENGTSON
Will you be attending this years AWS Summit in Stockholm on May 16th? If you are, check out our recommended talk tracks.

This year's AWS Summit Stockholm looks to be the largest one yet. Last year Amazon announced that their cloud infrastructure business would be expanding in 2018 to open a new European region to be based out of Stockholm - huge news for organisations working in regulated industries such as the public sector, banking, and finance. As a certified AWS Advanced Consulting Partner, we saw first hand the amount of cloud interest spike from our clients following this big announcement and hope to learn more about the timeline at this years event.
If you haven't already, navigate here to review this year's agenda and register. We had one our very own AWS Consultants, Peter Bengtson, review the agenda on your behalf. Below you will find our two recommended talk tracks - one for managers and one for developers:
Managers
The manager path is fairly straightforward: the Go-to-market track provides general background, CI/CD is what we at Diabol do (but alternatively, the Security workshop I suppose is designed to allay any worries about cloud security for management new to the cloud). The Serverless computing segment should give management an understanding of a very important new trend which they need to get used to as soon as possible, not least from a cost savings perspective. Scaling to a million users highlights the typical cloud journey they’re about to make, and everyone is worried about GDPR.
08:00 - 09:00: Registration
09:00 - 09:10: Welcome Remarks
09:10 - 11:00: Keynote - Wener Vogels, CTO at Amazon.com
11:20 - 12:10: (Startups) Go-to-market with AWS for Startups
13:10 - 13:55: (Cloud Ops) Improve Productivity with Continuous Integration and & Delivery OR (Let's Start) Security & Compliance in the Cloud
14:00 - 14:40: (Rapid Application Development) Severless Computing: Build and Run Applications without Thinking About Servers
15:10 - 15:55: (Cloud Operations) Scaling From Zero to 1 Million Users
16:00 - 16:50: (Move IT) Navigating GDPR to the Compliance on AWS
Developers
The developer track is quite straight forward: it’s the entire Rapid Application Development theme, simply because it represents the direction in which program development on AWS is going. It’s about containers on AWS, Kubernetes, and most of all about Serverless computing.
